World War Chaos 3- Chapter 18

A Fulfilled Promise

Back in Beach City the Gems are having a fun time with Lapis' new friend, Mew, in which she nicknamed it Bubble Cat.  Mew reveals one of its abilities to the Gems.  Mew uses Transform to turn into an Aurorus.  The instant transformation and growth surprises them as Steven and Connie climbed up on its back.

Connie: WOW!  It turned into some kind of dinosaur!
Steven: A Crystalsaur!
Amethyst: I can do that too.

Peridot tries to get on but she is too small to reach.  She jumps repeatedly trying to reach their hand.

Peridot: Hey!  I wanna ride too!

Lapis catches her off guard and carries her to Steven.  She leaves her with him and then she hovers next to Aurorus (Mew) face.

Lapis: Bubble Cat, I didn't know you can transform.  Can you turn into something else?

Aurorus (Mew) nods with a pleasant smile and turns its entire body into something else.  Its height disappears and everyone that was on it fell.  But before they land on the sand, Mew's new transformation saved them.  Mew has become a Solgaleo.

Solgaleo (Mew) : (roars)
Steven: No way!  
Amethyst: It looks like Lion but more cosmic and bright!

Lion checks on Mew's transformation and it is curious of its design.  

Steven: Lion, you finally have another lion buddy!  What do you think?

Lion continues to check everywhere.  It then stares at Solgaleo (Mew) and the mystical jewel embedded in its forehead attracts Lion's attention.

Amethyst: Hey, Lapis!  Bubble Cat is totally awesome!  
Lapis: I know!  Heh heh.

Solgaleo (Mew) roars again and it starts to run along through the shores, giving Steven, Connie, Amethyst, and Peridot a wild ride.  They cheer with laughter.  Lion and Lapis chased them for fun.

While the Gems are having fun, Pearl watches from the porch thinking too much about the Primal World.  She gave a sigh as the cool breeze brushes through her face.

Pearl: (sighs) I wish I can do something about the colored figures and the Perfect Universe.  Too bad I don't possess the power to travel through universes.  All I can do is just live on and focus on our home.

The soothing waves and the scattered clouds in the blue sky gives her a sense of peace.  She continues to look at the ocean and the Gems dashing through the scenery.

Pearl: It's been too long.  At least I got to see Steve and Mordecai again.  But...

She sighs again.

Pearl: It would've been better if... Shadow was there too.  When will I ever see him again?
???: That time is now.

A familiar voice catches her off guard.  She looks everywhere to see where the voice had came from.  She went downstairs to search for the voice.  She searched everywhere and couldn't find the voice, until... she looks above the roof of the house.  A familiar face stares down on her.  She is overjoyed.

Pearl: ... SHADOW!!

Shadow jumps off and lands in front of her.  Pearl eyes are almost filled up with tears.  Shadow then realizes that she is about to hug.  He takes one step backwards.

Shadow: Once again... I know what you're thinking.  This time don't-

Pearl hugs him tight, catching him off guard.

Pearl: You're back!  You actually came back to see me!  
Shadow: (sighs) hug...

While she continues to hug, Garnet comes out of the house and sees him.  She takes a closer look to see if what she's looking at is true.  As it turned out to be really Shadow, she rushes down and approached the two with excitement.

Garnet: Shadow!? 

Pearl releases him from her arms.

Shadow: Hmph...Garnet.  I see you look different now.
Pearl: Oh, Garnet, he's back!  I knew he would return to visit us!

Garnet brings herself down in one knee and hugs him too.  Shadow is becoming irritated by all of these hugs.

Shadow: I know it has been a while, but come on.

Garnet lets him go.  She rises back up.

Garnet: After all these years you have returned.  This is truly incredible.  Steven and Amethyst will be so excited to see you again.  Speaking of them, where are they?

From the far left side of the beach, Solgaleo (Mew) is dashing back to the temple along with Steven and his friends.  Up in front Steven spots Shadow with Pearl and Garnet.  He becomes surprised.

Steven: WHOA!  Look!  Is that Shadow?

Amethyst and Connie comes up and sees Shadow as well.  They too became surprised.

Amethyst: Oh!  Hoho!  Now way!  It is him!
Connie: Wow!  It is him!

Peridot and Lapis are confused.  They took a look and see Shadow up ahead.  Peridot is awed by his arrival, but Lapis shows no excitement, instead she is more confused.

Peridot: That's the Shadow!?  YES!  One of the missing members!
Lapis: Shadow...?

Shadow sees Solgaleo (mew) coming close.  They finally arrived and stopped as Shadow sees two new Gems beside them.  Solgaleo (Mew) turns back into Mew and everyone approached to Shadow's presence.  Lion lays back down to rest.

Steven: Shadow!  Welcome back!  
Connie: This is so cool!  Shadow is right here... in Beach City!  Wow!  I still remember you when you fought against the destroyer god!
Amethyst: Hey, Shaadoow!  How you been?  Long time no see!

Shadow didn't respond to any of them.  He continues to stare at Peridot and Lapis with an unfriendly look.  His glare makes Lapis feel uncomfortable but Peridot is too excited to be intimidated.  She rushes over to him.

Shadow: ....
Peridot: Salutations, Shadow of the United World, my name is Peridot and I am-
Shadow: I know who you are already...

Peridot stops and she became puzzled.

Peridot: You do?

Suddenly, Shadow spin dashes against her and sends her to Lapis.  Lapis is caught off guard and she too was caught in his spin dash.  Their friends gasped in terror.

Garnet: Shadow!
Pearl: Oh no!  I forgot!  He still thinks Peridot is our enemy!

Shadow then lunges at the two with a powerful kick, slamming their chests and crashed them into a crater they created.  The two are seriously injured by his unexpected strength.  As they try to get back up, Shadow places his foot onto them so they wouldn't flee.

Lapis: Aagh...!  It hurts!
Peridot: Tch...!  Ooww!  Why...!?
Shadow: You got some nerve to arrive here with your ally.  Any enemy of Pearl, is also an enemy of mine.

Shadow charges up a Chaos Spear in his hand.  Alarmed, Mew quickly aids its friend and intervenes.  Mew blocks his way.

Mew: Mew!  Meew!
Shadow: Huh?
Lapis: Bubble...Cat... no...

Then Pearl gets in his way and blocks him from Lapis and Peridot.

Pearl: Shadow, it's not what you think anymore!  Peridot and Lapis are on our side now!

Shadow is astonished.  He stops and his Chaos Spear vanishes.  Lapis and Peridot slowly got back up, but their pain lingers as they limp next to Pearl.

Shadow: Them?  Pearl, these two are your enemies.  Peridot was the reason why you were so afraid.
Pearl: Everything has changed ever since you left.  They learned their lessons already, so please.... don't harm them.  

Mew uses its Healing Pulse technique and healed Lapis and Peridot back to full health.  They felt so much better as if they were never hurt.  Mew approaches to Lapis and cuddles next her.

Lapis: Thank you, Bubble Cat.  You are a great help.
Mew: Mew, Mew!

Steven and his friends sighed with relief.

Shadow: Hmm... 
Pearl: Trust me.  Peridot has changed.  

Shadow thinks to himself.

Pearl: Now please, apologize to them.
 
Lapis looks angrily at him, but Peridot feels upset.  They both wait for an apology.

Shadow: ...To the blue one, I'll give her my deep apology, but as for Peridot, not a chance.
Pearl: But why?
Shadow: I don't trust her.  Don't forget she was also part of Tai Lung's Perfect Universe conspiracy.  That is also why I came here.

Peridot goes up to him and tries to gain his trust.  Shadow glares at her.

Peridot: (gulps) I wasn't part of his team.  He was just trying to recruit me.  I didn't accept his offer.
Steven: Shadow, just give her a chance.  She proved herself as a Crystal Gem while you were gone.  She helps us, she cares about the Earth.  She even called Yellow Diamond a clod right at her face.

Shadow makes a soft chuckle when he remembered Yellow Diamond.  Pearl is confused when she sees him laugh about Yellow Diamond.  Then, Lapis calls his attention.

Lapis: And what did I do?  Why am I part of this?  
Pearl: Wait... that's right.  How did you know Lapis was with Peridot?  I never mentioned her to you. 

Shadow then remembers from few years past, he was talking to Beerus.

Shadow: (sighs) Fine, then why are you telling me this?
Beerus: Because you and Pearl witnessed the whole secret.
Shadow: But why didn't you call Pearl too?
Beerus: Because I don't want her to be desperate to keep us here until her enemy invades here.

Shadow is shocked.

Shadow: Wait!  Peridot remembered the whole thing!?
Beerus: No.  I believe our plan worked.  It's just that she has two more members in the giant hand ship.  A large orange one and a blue one.  And they are coming to this planet soon.

His flashback ended.

Shadow: Before I left back to my world, Beerus told me that Peridot was heading to your destination along with two members.  This Lapis was one of them.  So that's why I was alarmed when I saw her.

Lapis is puzzled.

Lapis: Who is this Beerus?
Steven: The God of Destruction.
Lapis: God of Destruction?  There's another one? I thought... Eclip-
Steven: From the 7th universe.  There's actually more universes out there besides this one.
Lapis: Really?
Mew: Meew...

Pearl then realizes that Shadow and Beerus knew about their upcoming arrival from the start.  She becomes upset.

Pearl: Wait... you both knew they were arriving sooner?  Why...?  Why didn't you warn me?  We could've asked for your help.  We could've asked for the United World's help.  We could've asked BEERUS for his help!  
Shadow: And that's why I didn't.  He doesn't want us to help you with your problems.  He believes that doing so can upset the natural balance in this universe.  He also wants you all to overcome threats such as that.
Pearl: I was- I mean we were captured.  We were this close to be taken back to our homeworld as prisoners.  Don't you care about me?

Shadow turns the other way to avoid looking at her sad eyes.

Shadow: I do.... but I also need to respect Beerus' orders.  

Pearl faces down in sorrow.  Her friends are concerned for her, even Mew.  Mew then goes up to Shadow and gets his attention.  Shadow turns his head away from looking at Mew, but Mew gently turns his head to the other direction where he can see Pearl.  Looking at her sad face, he begins to feel some sympathy.

Shadow: (sighs) Damn it, Bubble Cat...
Mew: (nods) Meew.
Shadow: Pearl, there is no need for sad faces.  What matters now is that I'm back.  That is what you wanted, and that is what I promised.  

Pearl lifts her head and looks at him.

Shadow: I'm sorry.  Beerus wasn't the only reason why I didn't stay before.  
Pearl: What was the other reason?
Shadow: I left home to search for answers.  Allow me to explain my absence.

Meanwhile back in the New Halberd, Goku and Sonic are sparring with each other in the training room.  The Pokemon gang, Mordecai's group, and Goku's partners are watching the fight while the other members are practicing their fighting skills.  The element benders are practicing their bending and Po is practicing his Kung Fu.  Unlike the benders, Po is getting distracted by the awesome fight between Goku and Sonic.

In the spar Goku blocks every Sonic's attacks while Sonic uses his speed to throw first hits before Goku.  Goku is impressed by his speed.

Goku: *blocking* Wow you're fast!  
Sonic: *attacking* What do you expect?  I'm the fastest guy in the team!
Goku: *blocking* Oh really?

As Sonic throws a straight kick, Goku suddenly vanishes and reappears from behind.  Goku then throws his kick and launched Sonic to a wall.  Sonic successfully prevents himself from being crashed by catching it in a perfect time.  He lands back on his feet, but Goku reappears in front of him with his Z Vanish and aims his hand at his face.  Sonic is surprised.

Sonic: Whoa...!
Goku: In my experiences, this signifies the end of the battle.  I could fire a powerful ki blast from my hand and finish you right now.  
Sonic: I see.  It seems you've won, but how did you do that teleporting?
Goku: Heheh.  That was MY speed.

Sonic is impressed.  Goku moves his hand away and prepares for the next round.

Goku: Alright.  Lets keep going.
Sonic: Got it.  Lets start round 3.

Po is very excited.  He volunteers to challenge him.

Po: Oo!  Oo!  I want to face him next!  Please, Goku?
Goku: Alright.  I wanted to see Sonic's super form, but I am also curious to see everyone's power.  I got it!  How about all of you face me at once?

Everyone, even the benders are surprise.

Aang: Are you sure about that?
Ash: Doesn't that seem unfair?
Goku: Nah!  I'll be fine!  I want you all to show your power that's all.  Also I don't want any of you to hold back anything because I'll be using my Super Saiyan for this match.

Goku instantly turns his hair gold and his aura flares with yellow color.  Everyone is fascinated by his sudden transformation.

Goku: Well how about it?  All of you take me on!
Cynthia: Incredible... Without the need of the Chaos Emeralds... (chuckle)  My Garchomp will be gladly to go against you, Goku.
Sonic: Alright, we'll take you on!
Goku: Great!  Bring it on!

Meanwhile back in Beach City, three hours has passed.  Steven and the Gems gave Shadow an entire tour around Beach City.  From their tour they met up with Greg and he was surprised to see Shadow again.  He then joins with the group.

 Throughout the tour Shadow has explained everything about his long absence.  Everyone, especially Pearl is fascinated by his story.  Shadow even explained his thoughts on the Perfect Universe and that made the Gems more curious and suspicious about the organization.  Now they have arrived at the Big Donut where Lars and Sadie work.  The group found their seats and sat down.

Pearl: So... all this time you were just adventuring across the universes?  I thought something horrible happened to you.  
Shadow: I've been fine.  Huh...I should've told Steve before I left.
Greg: Wow.  You have seen so much.  If you had lived here, you would become very famous.

Lars sees him sitting with Pearl and the Gems.  He becomes excited.

Lars: No way!  
Sadie: Lars?

Lars rushes over to the gang.  He greets to Shadow.

Lars: Hey it's you!  Where were you all this time?
Shadow: Oh...it's you.
Lars: Yeah!  Remember me?  I was with you and the other guys!

Lapis speaks to Peridot.  Mew hovers over her and sat on top her head.

Lapis: He knows them too?  
Peridot: I guess so.
Lapis: Hmph... wow... everyone but me.  
Peridot: Oh don't be mad, Lazuli.  I didn't know them either.
Lapis: But you went with Pearl to another universe.  This makes me sick that I'm left out.

Mew tries to cheer her up by looking at her in the eyes.  Lapis smiles softly at its cute stare.

Peridot: Oh, what about Moonstone?  She doesn't know about this either.  How about you go report this to her?  She'll be very surprised to hear this information you have gathered.
Lapis: I can't.  She went to Planet Megalith to visit her other daughter and her friend.  
Peridot: Oh...
Mew: Meew...

Lars and Sadie continue to bother Shadow from his conversation.  Garnet then stops them.

Garnet: That's enough, you two.  We have important matters to discuss.  
Sadie: Oh... sorry.
Lars: I don't mind.  I'll be listening too.
Shadow: You have a job to do.  Get lost.

His mean attitude drove Lars and Sadie away from him and back to the counter.

Garnet: So, Shadow, about this Perfect Universe.  Have you found any clues about them?  
Pearl: What about the "client"?  Have you found out who the "client" is?

Shadow thinks for a second and then replies to them.

Shadow: I still don't know who the "client" is, but I did found information on him and the Perfect Universe.  And once I tell you this... brace for it.
Connie: Brace for it?  Why's that?

The team pays attention to him as he is ready to explain.

Shadow: The Perfect Universe... turns out to be an organization that plans to wipe out every universe in existence.  And it turns out... they have been doing this for a while now.
Garnet: You mean they have been destroying universes?
Shadow: I'm not sure, but they have been eliminating millions of worlds though.

The Gems are shocked.  

Shadow: And this Perfect Universe has acquired a god.  A god that rules over all destroyers and darkness.  This divine beast is responsible for destroying every world and possibly universes.  It is called Yvaatu.

The Gems are fascinated and feared by the new deity they never heard.  Lapis and Peridot came to their table and listened closely to him as his information became more interesting.

Pearl: Yvaatu?  The ruler of all destroyers?  So this thing stands on top of Beerus.
Shadow: Yes.  Every god of destruction.
Lapis: So... even Moonstone and Eclipse Stone... pfft!  That's pretty farfetched.
Shadow: I don't think so, Lapis.  This is what the Omniguardian told me and I am pretty sure this is no myth.

Lapis is puzzled.

Lapis: Who is the Omniguardian? 
Peridot: I wish to know that too!  

Mew twirls around her head in boredom.  Lapis stops it and holds it in her arms.

Shadow: Yvaatu... was also responsible for my world being destroyed.

They all gasped in horror.

Pearl: You're world was destroyed by Yvaatu!?  Oh no!  
Steven: Oh no!  What about Sonic?  What about Dr. Eggman!?  Are they safe?  Please tell me they're safe!

Shadow is relieved that Sonic is fine, but he then wonders about Eggman.  He has no idea what happened to him.

Shadow: Sonic escaped from the destruction, but as for the doctor... I can't say....
Steven: Oh noo...

Connie comforts him as he starts to feel sad about his friend.  Garnet becomes anxious by the terror of the god.

Garnet: Shadow, if it's true that Yvaatu is going around destroying planets, is it possible that ours could be next?

They gasped again.  Peridot gulps in fear.

Peridot: We're next!?
Shadow: I don't know, but likely at some point... yes.  I also discovered that my world wasn't the only one being destroyed.  Our members such as the Pokemon, Elemental, and Mordecai's world have also lost their homes to the Perfect Universe.  But don't worry, they all made it safely to the Primal World and now they're coming at your place to get you guys.
 
Pearl gets up from her seat with surprise.

Pearl: The United World is coming here?
Shadow: (nods) The White Figure believes they are arriving soon.  

Mew and Peridot are overjoyed.  They both twirled with each other in the middle of the shop.  Lars is also excited to hear that the entire team is arriving.

Peridot: YES!  I finally get to meet them!
Mew: Meew!  Meew!
Lars: This is great!  I'll be going on a break if they're here!
Sadie: Lars...

Lapis makes a soft chuckle as she sees Mew spinning with Peridot.  

Greg: Wow.  They're actually returning here.  I'm getting excited. 
Lapis: I'm kinda excited too.  (sighs) This other universes talk... I thought it was nothing but a fantasy, but if Bubble Cat believes it, then I will too.

Then, Steven and Amethyst spots something outside.  A huge airship with wings and a giant knight's mask descending at the beach.  He quickly calls out their attention.

Steven: LOOK!  A giant airship!
Amethyst: Whoa...!

Everyone came to the window to see an airship descending slowly from the sky.

Pearl: Oh no.  It looks like we have company.
Shadow: It's not anyone from Homeworld, Pearl.  I believe that's them.  They're here.
Pearl: REALLY!?

Shadow exits the shop and dashes all away back to the beach.  Steven and his group are filled with eagerness and they follow Shadow.  Lars leaves his position and heads over to them too.

Lars: I gotta see this!
Sadie: Lars wait!

At the shores the New Halberd lands on a huge space of sand.  The wings shifted into its vertical position and the engines slowly stops.  Everyone has made it to the beach and watched with awe as they wait for the drawbridge to open.

The drawbridge opens and one person reveals himself to them.  The Gems have never seen him before.  They looked at him with wonder.  Goku waves them with a friendly greeting.

Goku: Hey guys!  

They were all speechless.  Then Peridot spoke.

Peridot: Who is that clod?
